Canadian Walmart is rolling back prices on Playstation 3

Today I am proud to be a Canadian. Not only is our dollar at par with the American dollar after 30 years, but our Walmart is currently selling PS3s cheaper than the US Walmart is. Long live the mountie!

Right now Walmart is selling the 80GB Playstation 3 bundle for $549.83 which is $110 cheaper than the regular price. The bundle includes the console, a controller, Motor Storm and a Blue Ray remote.

Walmart is also selling games like Resistance: Fall of Man for $39.83, Call of Duty 3 for $18.83 and Rainbow Six Vegas for $45.86.

The sale is limited though, so everyone put down their hockey sticks and whale blubber and get to Walmart for their anniversary sale before it ends on October 4th, 2007.

Any Americans living near the border may want to cross into Canada to buy this system cheap too. Remember our money costs the same as your money, so you'll be getting a deal too.

Coming together

I did a little house cleaning today of all my various blogs. I've had over 7 of them in the last 2 years and I decided to delete the old, useless ones and merge the rest into one blogger account.

I've got 4 blogs now, all for different reasons. My gamer blog, The Girl Gamer is still my main blog and will always take priority over the other ones, but I needed to recreate my old main blog just so I could have somewhere to post about anything I wanted. I didn't want to muck up this blog with too many non-gaming related posts.

I also have my photography blog which features all my photographs from highschool. All my artsy-fartsy ones. I stopped adding to it a long time ago but I plan to keep it around just as a portfolio spot.

Finally I have my erotic writing blog ... yes, I use to write dirty stories. GASP! SHOCK and AWE! Well, when you work in a stripclub, sex tends to be on your mind most of the time. I stopped writing for it though, when Destructoid hired me. From boobs and dicks to Joysticks and Consoles ... weird, huh?

So now, you can check out all my blogs through my profile. I'll also add them into my sidebar soon. Later though, cause now I need to get ready for work.

Ciao for now!

I've got friends in high places

I check my site meter at least once a day to see where all my readers are coming from and I especially love to comment on other blogs that post about me and my articles, just so I can thanks.

Today I found the best link for my site since 1UP.com posted about my Miss Video Game story. Xbox Canada posted my little blog in their Friends of Xbox section on the community main page. OH MY GOD! SOMEONE UP THERE LOVES ME!!!

I've had chats with Xbox community members like Sinnix and Trixie before, but I never knew people loved me that much that Microsoft. Now my only question is ... where's the PR love? What? No press releases or review copies? Don't friends usually send birthday and Christmas presents? Where's my copy of Eternal Sonata?

Just kidding ... actually I would love the inside scoop.

I'm playing with the big boys now. *struts with confidence*

Thanks to my friends at Xbox Canada for the link ... shoot me an email at Christina@Destructoid.com, so I can thank you personally and know how ya are.

G4 TV has got a secret ...

Apparently G4TV in the US has a big announcement they plan to reveal this Thursday night during their show, Attack of the Show. No word yet on what it could be, but most believe that G4 will be going to HD format for all their shows.

Does Cheaters come in HD? Sorry about that. Some shows on the network have already switched to wide screen format and HD could be a possibly, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed for an all Tech channel again. Canada's G4 is still all tech and its much better than way.

Stay tuned to G4 this Thursday at 7:20pm est to watch for this big announcement. The biggest announcement G4 has ever released!

It's 12:35am and I'm sick of Halo 3 already

The Halo franchise is huge and with the release of Halo 3 tonight at midnight, Bungie will be rolling in the dough again. I've seen the ads - wicked. I've seen the swag - very stylish. I've seen the artwork - classic. And now, that the game is available and I could care less about playing it.

Truth is ... I've only ever played Halo for a moment or two in a two player game and I didn't care for it. I've never touched Halo 2 and I won't be buying Halo 3. I'd sell any copy given to me and I'd never think about it again. Master Chief is truly a sexy bitch, but I don't care to play his games.

I'd buy a Master Chief action figure and I'll wear my sexy Halo 3 t-shirt, but I don't want the game. I don't want to hear about it any more either. Gears of War drove me round the bend for 6 months already and I don't want to live with the constant "Do you love Halo 3 or what?" or "Did you pick up Halo 3 yet?"

People bugged me to play Gears of War before and I know they'll bug me to play Halo 3, so here's my stance ahead of time ... DON'T ASK ME TO BUY OR PLAY THE BLOODY HALOS!!!!

Thank you and good night. :)

Don't forget to finish the fight and tell me how it end though. ;)

Behold my army! They are small and plastic

My goal right now to complete all the characters from Final Fantasy for my own fridge. So far I have made Locke, Edgar, Sabin, Terra, Mog, Shadow, Cyan, Relm, Strago, Setzer, Celes, the ghost from the Phantom train and a guy riding a chocobo from the stable. Only Cyan and the ghost is missing from the pictures above.

I still need to finish Terra in Esper form, Kefka, Umaro, Gau, Cid, Gogo, General Leo, Emperior Ghestal, Imp, chocobo and a few others like soldier and such.

Look for more creations here and head to my store, Pixelated Creations to buy your own Final Fantasy VI character bag tag.

If you love me, you'll wear me.

DTOID Rampage t-shirt design @ © SplitReason.com

Destructoid came out with a clothing line a couple of months ago and I'm patiently awaiting my first Destructoid female t-shirt in the mail. I'm also waiting for the newest design to start shipping this month.

What is so special about this new design? Well, it has me on the t-shirt too! Last year, a Destructoid reader created a rampage style Mr. Destructoid character and put him on the side of a building while holding me.

Destructoid sold the design in a limited amount and I was unable to buy the t-shirt before they ran out. Now I have my chance to not only buy the t-shirt but get it in a female size.

Look for it before the end of the month on Splitreason.com

This 8-bit fused bead art is epic!

Surfing the web for other 8-bit fused bead artists, I found a forum site where artists like me can chat and post their work. After seeing some of the great pieces that other artists have done, I suddenly feel small in my piece sizes and collection size. I roughly have about 80 or more pieces that I have created, but after seeing Zaghrenaut's collection, I realized I have a long way to go. He has finished at least 200 pieces from Final Fantasy heroes and enemies to Super Mario Bros. 3. He has even finished to huge pieces from Final Fantasy and Bionic Commando.

In terms of project sizes, no one can beat Darlaa's pieces which are so big they took an average of 21 large size boards. From two Ninja Turtle's final screen shots to a Wonder Boy screen shot, Darlaa had to use a wooden board and a large plate to maneuver the boards to iron both sides. Afterwards she had them mounted and framed for hanging. How cool is that!

I want pictures like that in my house. I just wanted to add that I love her amazing Rayman Raving Rabbids pieces. I need to do the bottom rabbit next.

Review: Carnival Games

Carnival Games for the Wii is a collection of midway games reproduced in mini game form. You and your advanced looking Mii travel to different sections of the carnival to complete in several mini games to gain tickets and prizes. Prizes can be traded in for bigger prizes and tickets are used to play each area's special machine like the Fortune Teller or the Love Machine, which can unlock special items for your Mii.

The graphics are colourful and child-like, but nothing to write home about. The audio consists of pipe organ music, the carnival folk taunting you and sounds of buzzers and bells going off in the games. You know ... the kind of stuff you still have nightmares about ever since your parents took you to that Fall fair with all the scary looking carnies and the less than safety looking tilt-a-whirl.

Some of the mini games can be challenging but for the real midway pros, each area has special hard versions of games that can be unlocked when you win all the prizes in the games adjacent to it. Basically the goal of this entire game is to unlock all the games, prizes and items for your Mii and you win. This isn't really that fun for a single player, but it makes for a great party game for people of all ages to enjoy. I mean who hasn't played ring toss or balloon pop before?

Update on The Girl Gamer

I've been a busy bee lately and thought I'd catch everyone up on my goings-on.

I've been playing lots of BioShock and I'm already on my second round through the game. I finished it on the "Good, non-harvesting" ending and now all those little darlings' adam is mine. *evil laugh*

I'm never been one for first person shooter but BioShock is just so pretty and I love the storyline. So, I'm allowing for a change in genres and playing the sucker on easy. I know ... I'm a pussy, but I want to finish this game in the next year, okay?!

I've also been playing Carcassonne like it's sugar laced with crack. It's so hard to find to people to play with though. No one seems to own the full version of this game. So everyone reading this, buy it ... buy it now, so you can play with me online.

I've been chatting with a new friend, Shermaine from Player1 magazine and we've been talking about me freelancing for the magazine. Nothing is for sure yet and don't panic, I'll still be blogging here and Destructoid. I will always be loyal to Destructoid as Niero has always been good to me and I would never leave Dtoid over anything. Even in death, I plan to blog from the grave.

Work is crappy as always and my job hunt has turned to thoughts of school. I love to write, but I need more training, cause we all know my grammer blows. So in the Spring, I may opt for an online writing course at Niagara College, so I can see how I'll handle the homework thing again and then I'll look into full time school or something. Besides, employers tend to be more dazzled by diplomas, then real life experience alone.

I'm still selling all my goodies over on Etsy.com @ pixelatedcreations.etsy.com. I have everything from Chocobo bag tags to Ms Pac Man key chains. Take a look and buy from me! I'm up to my ears in Perler Beads. Prices are $10 and down and shipping is $2 for US and Canada.

I'm also selling tons of stuff on eBay. I'm addicted to that site now. I spend way too much on there as is, but I love selling on there too. It's like a never ending garage sale. I may throw some more games up soon from my PC collection and my RPG books from Changeling and Vampire.

Well, that's all for now. Thanks for reading and keep reading Dtoid too.

The Final Fantasy Retrospective: Part II

Gametrailers continues their look at Final Fantasy with Part II of their XIII part series. This episodes takes a look at Final Fantasy II and III.

Review: Final Fantasy II

I love role-playing games, but god, do they ever take a long time to finish.

After playing Final Fantasy on the PSP, I decided to pick up the second installment in this wonderful series, Final Fantasy II which was also just released on the PSP. This is another Final Fantasy game which I ever got to play.

In this installment, we find 3 character, Firion, Maria and Guy who are saved by the Princess Hilda of Flynn after their town is attacked. Princess Hilda is a leader for the rebel movement against the evil kingdom of Palemecia. The three ask to fight in the resistance but Hilda tells me they are too young and inexperienced, so instead the three return home to fight the Emperor's men but instead find Hilda's finance, Prince Scott.

They battle the Emperor to protect him but instead he dies and the team is forced to return to the Princess with his ring and news that Borghen has betrayed them and joined the Emperor's army as his new general. The Princess impressed by the group's effort gives them a new task and the game goes on from there with the team joining with Minwu, the white mage as they help the resistance win against the Emperor.

Characters in the game are given a key word system which allow them to question people about specific topics to gain important information. Characters in this version are also able to customize their skills like weapon use and magic spells from the beginning of the game.

This game was much harder to play then any other FF game I've ever played before. The increased amount of enemies, status effects and trap doors made it hard to escape dungeons when you were low on mana and health.

The fight system is turn based like most FF games and the items, weapons and magic spells are pretty much the same. No upgrades or materia in this game.

The graphics, much like the graphics in Final Fantasy, have been updated for the times. The characters still small and basic looking but much more colourful. The enemies are given a new 3D look and multiple colours.

The cut scenes have been changed from dull, 2d screens to brand, new CGIs with all the flair of FFXII. These were probably the biggest changes in the game compared to the original version or ports of FFII.

The music in the game is still the original pieces we've come to know from the series from the end battle song to the title song. Each has been given a real orchestra sound to them.

For any FF fans out there that haven't play this great game before, then I suggest you pick up a copy of Final Fantasy II and see what all the fuss is about. Besides you can't be a true Final Fantasy fan if you haven't play all the games.

Rating: 7 out of 10.

Best two words in the gaming: Final Fantasy

It's funny to think that I never played the first game in my favorite series of games until only a month ago. Final Fantasy is probably my favorite series of all time following by Legend of Zelda, but I didn't get addicted to the series until I rented Final Fantasy VI or III in the US version, to play on my Super Nintendo.

I had tried Final Fantasy I at a friend's house, rented Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest, but it was a friend who gave my Final Fantasy VI that made me fall in love with the series. I want so badly to play the next game, Final Fantasy VII which came out on Playstation but I didn't get a chance until a year or two after it came out. I had to play it on my friend's console whenever they would lend it to me. Funny to think I owned a game that I didn't even own the console to play it on.

Once I finally bought a Playstation, I picked up both Final Fantasy VIII, and Final Fantasy IX which just had been released. The PS2 had just been released around that time and I was just buying the old Playstation. How behind the times was I?

Then Final Fantasy X came out and I jumped at the thought of buying PS2 just for the game. My boyfriend at the time pushed me to let him buy it though for the DVD player and newer games, and I agreed only if I could get FFX.

Since then I've bought FFX-2, FFXII, Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales, FFI, and FFII and I plan to buy FFIII soon, and FFIV and FFV when they come out. I don't think I'll get FFXI because its online or any of the Tactics games because they never really interested me.

I own a plush Chocobo and a Moogle and I plan to start buying action figures. I even own FFVII: Advent Children. I love FINAL FANTASY and hope that there will never be a final game in the series.

Motor Kombat!!! I mean Mortal Kombat car.

So, what the "A" from?

I came out from the grocery store yesterday and found this crappy Jeep parked in front of me with the coolest hood design. It was the Mortal Kombat Deception logo. SWEET!

Too bad, the car is falling apart. It had tons of dents and the front license plate missing. I could see the owner of this car being a huge hardcore gamer who bought this car just because it had the MK logo.

"Who cares if it runs or not. It was the MK logo on it. I WANT IT!

The X'07 Blackout: Yeah, that was me ...

Believe or not, I think the power loss at Microsoft's X'07 event was my fault or something, cause this damn blackout is following me around. Friday night at work, it happened again.

I get to work and after about an hour, suddenly the bar goes dark ... no music, nothing. And then the power comes back on but only slightly. The black lights, bar lights, microphone, TVs, promo DVD player and strobe lights were working but nothing else. No house lights, no music and no bar register, so no hard liquor or draft beer for sale.

This was fine by me cause I just pulled out my Nintendo DS and started playing Final Fantasy but then an hour later, the rest of the power goes out and now everyone is scrabbling to light candles and setup a ghetto blaster with batteries to play some music from the radio.

Now, I can't see a damn thing to keep playing and so I cave and go hang with some regulars.

It took Niagara Hydro two hours before they fixed the problem, which apparently happened when a raccoon jumped on a power line.

Talk about weird, eh? I never thought two power losses where possible in the same week unless it was storming out or something.

So everyone who went to X'07 can blame the power loss on me, cause apparently it was following me around or something. Sorry.

If it makes anyone feel better, I have a cold now.

Blue Dragon: Video Review

I got this game as a gift from Microsoft's X'07 and plan to start playing it once I finish Final Fantasy II and Heroes of Mana. Plus there's BioShock and the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare beta and I still have Final Fantasy XII ...

Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland: New Gameplay Footage

Already released in Japan, Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland looks like it may be coming to Europe or North America with the release of this new English language gameplay footage. Girls and Gay men everywhere are jumping for joy right now. I love anything to do with the Zelda franchise and plan to pick this game up along with Phantom Hourglass for my DS.

The Simpsons: Medal of Homer Trailer

I actually got to play this level at X'07 and it was wicked. Best Simpson game evar and I've played them all including the arcade version. I remember having Bart Simpson VS. the World on my NES. That game was cute but I never finished it. It was too hard for me.
