The Fall of an Icon: Can I Interest You in Bruce Campbell Figure?

I honestly can't explain in words how much I hurt having to write this blog post. I wanted it to be an interview article with my greatest hero of all time but he smashed that dream into a millions piece when he decided to act like a jerk and ignore a promise him made.

I've been a Bruce Campbell fan for a long time - ever since my friends in high school introduced me to a little movie called Army of Darkness. After that, I couldn't get enough of "The Chin" and his B-movies. Now I'm not an uber-fan as I've never actually seen all his movie and I don't own every fan collector's piece known to man or anything but I did have my fair share of items from the Bruce Collection.

I even stood in line back in September for 2 hours to get his autograph and meet him when I could have been spending my time on video game stuff at the Fan Expo - instead I wasted several hours on him.

So back in December I tracked down Mr. Campbell's email address which is easy to find if you know where to look and asked him for an interview. He agreed as long as I didn't ask the typical same old questions, so I made sure to do some research and ask questions are related to current events rather to the same old Evil Dead, Xena and Brisco Country stuff.

He also asked that I give him time to respond to the questions which was fine too - I understand that he was doing this on his time. So 3 weeks goes by and nothing - no response from him, so I email him back about the questions and get no response again. I try emailing him again after the holidays and still no response. So at this point, I'm crushed and pissed.

How could anyone, big star or not, make a promise and not even be polite enough to send an email back to say why they don't have the time or something? Is Bruce that big of an ass that his fans mean nothing to him? Why bother to say yes in the first place? I could haven't taken a polite no in the beginning rather than this run around.

So after all this, I say fuck celebrities and fan worship. They don't deserve having us spend our hard earned money on their merchandise and autographs. I personally am selling all of my Bruce Campbell items on ebay currently. I refuse to keep items in my home that praise that pompous ass. Beside I might need to take my dog into the vet soon and the money from these items is better spend on my fluffy friend than worshiping a bitter old actor.

If anyone is interested in the items, they can check out the items here.

More on the Subject of Etsy and Copycats

Now I don't want anyone to think I hate Etsy due to my last rant because it is a great site for artists to sell their wares. Ebay is too expensive and not targeted at the right market for us, plus it lacks the community that Etsy has. However what does upset me about Etsy is the lack of support they show artists when they need it the most.

Etsy claims that they will moderate between members when there are issues but honestly I have seen several stories where sellers who create original items had other sellers on Etsy steal their exact items and Etsy did nothing to help them. Most small sellers or hobbyists can't afford lawyers to defend their work and if Etsy doesn't step in, how can you stop other people from just selling your art without your permission?

So sellers are left to defend for themselves and disputes can get nasty. The harassing emails start, more items are stolen and people will go as far as attempting to destroy each other lives basically. Thankfully I've never had to deal with anyone like that but I've again heard the stories.

But all the finger pointing aside, isn't the idea of copying art just ruining the whole purpose of art? Why bother selling crafts if all you're doing is producing something created in the mind of someone else? You may as well go work in a factory then sell on Etsy?

New Gaming Trade Site Open

A lot of gamers have given up on places like Gamestop, EB Games and eBay for selling their games and turned to places like Goozex.com to trade their games for other titles.

A new trading site launched today though that removes the need for point systems, fees or credit cards. At SwitchGames.com, Gamers are able to trade any game from any system as well as systems and accessories.

The site comes complete with an interactive community that helps gamers make perfect traders for the games they want.
“Our mission is to empower and protect the gamer,” said founder and CEO Jason Crawford. “SwitchGames is an open marketplace created by gamers for gamers where members easily connect and trade with each other. As we roll out this initial version we welcome feedback from the gamer community to help us shape a marketplace where they can stretch their budgets.”
Check out SwitchGames.com official website here.

Update on The Girl Gamer

I've been a busy bee lately and thought I'd catch everyone up on my goings-on.

I've been playing lots of BioShock and I'm already on my second round through the game. I finished it on the "Good, non-harvesting" ending and now all those little darlings' adam is mine. *evil laugh*

I'm never been one for first person shooter but BioShock is just so pretty and I love the storyline. So, I'm allowing for a change in genres and playing the sucker on easy. I know ... I'm a pussy, but I want to finish this game in the next year, okay?!

I've also been playing Carcassonne like it's sugar laced with crack. It's so hard to find to people to play with though. No one seems to own the full version of this game. So everyone reading this, buy it ... buy it now, so you can play with me online.

I've been chatting with a new friend, Shermaine from Player1 magazine and we've been talking about me freelancing for the magazine. Nothing is for sure yet and don't panic, I'll still be blogging here and Destructoid. I will always be loyal to Destructoid as Niero has always been good to me and I would never leave Dtoid over anything. Even in death, I plan to blog from the grave.

Work is crappy as always and my job hunt has turned to thoughts of school. I love to write, but I need more training, cause we all know my grammer blows. So in the Spring, I may opt for an online writing course at Niagara College, so I can see how I'll handle the homework thing again and then I'll look into full time school or something. Besides, employers tend to be more dazzled by diplomas, then real life experience alone.

I'm still selling all my goodies over on Etsy.com @ pixelatedcreations.etsy.com. I have everything from Chocobo bag tags to Ms Pac Man key chains. Take a look and buy from me! I'm up to my ears in Perler Beads. Prices are $10 and down and shipping is $2 for US and Canada.

I'm also selling tons of stuff on eBay. I'm addicted to that site now. I spend way too much on there as is, but I love selling on there too. It's like a never ending garage sale. I may throw some more games up soon from my PC collection and my RPG books from Changeling and Vampire.

Well, that's all for now. Thanks for reading and keep reading Dtoid too.

eBay or Etsy? Where to peddle my crap?

So I tried to hook myself up on Etsy.com today to start selling my fused bead magnets, coasters and keychains but their sign up process hates my creditcard and won't let me sign up.

So, should I try to sign up for Etsy.com again with my creditcard holder's help or sign up for a $15.95 store on eBay?

Etsy.com is a better place to sell my stuff because its all handmade items and people are specifically looking for handmade items and there isn't a monthly store fee, but eBay stores have roughly the same listing fees and I can use my paypal account instead of a creditcard.

Want should I do? Etsy or eBay
