I have always been a huge Legend of Zelda fan and recently I came up with an awesome idea for a cake topper.
I took a Master Sword and Hyrule Shield fuse bead piece set I already had and placed them on top of a cake in a great way. It looked awesome.
This cake topper set is made from plastic, non-toxic, food safe perler beads.
The sword is 7.5 inches long and 3.25 inches at the hilt. The shield is 4.5 inches tall and 4 inches wide.
The cake topper set sells for $12 Canadian plus shipping via my Etsy shop.
Check out Pixelized Creations for more cool cake toppers and other great pixel art.

The Girl Gamer is getting Married!
So believe it or not, this little gaming chick is finally tying the knot to her long time boyfriend of 8 years in August. It's not going to be a huge ceremony - just a few family members to witness the lovely event and then dinner afterwards.
My husband to be won't let me go nuts with a totally geek themed wedding but I wouldn't be me if I didn't get my way on a few things in this wedding. Rather than coming down the aisle to the traditional bridal music, I talked him into a beautiful orchestral version of Zelda's Lullaby. This song is so pretty and just fits the moment perfectly.
I also loved this version of Pachelbels Cannon with a 8-bit twisted on it. Another perfect song for a gamer themed wedding.

Most Anticipated Games of 2010 from The Girl Gamer
As we leave 2009 behind we look forward to a brand new year full of new possibilities and new videogames. While there are tons of new titles announced for this year, these are the games that have caught my eye as the ones to pre-order.
Bayonetta – Sega, Platinum Games
Xbox 360 and Playstation 3
This over the top action game is like Devil May Cry on acid. Throw in the fact this game has a sexy heroine with super hair powers and guns in her shoes, and you have probably the weirdest and most intriguing game of the year. Best of all, you don’t have to wait to experience this title cause it’s available on store shelves now.
BioShock 2 – 2k Games
Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC
Even though I know the experience of playing BioShock 2 will never be as amazing as the first BioShock, I still can’t wait to get my hands on the sequel in February. New features in the sequel include a multiplayer mode, the new Big Sisters and the ability to work with the Little Sisters.
God of War III – SCEA, Santa Monica Studios
Playstation 3
Kratos will be back. God of War III will pick up right after the events of God of War II with Kratos working with Gaia to destroy Olympus. Those wanting to experience the game now, can check out the demo which is available when you buy the God of War collection on Playstation 3.
Final Fantasy XIII – Square Enix
Xbox 360 and Playstation 3
Finally the wait will be over and Final Fantasy fans will be able to play the 13th instalment in the official Final Fantasy series after such a long development process. This will mark the first time the official series has appeared on the Xbox 360. I personally can’t wait to dive into the world of Pulse with its newest hero, Lightning and her resistance group, Team Nora.
Fable III – Microsoft Studios, Lionhead Studios
Xbox 360
After an amazing comeback with Fable 2 in 2008, Lionhead Studios plans to wow us again in 2010 with Fable 3 in late November. The story will have a new hero defending the kingdom against an evil tyrant and then having to take on the crown themselves in the second half of the game.
Alan Wake – Microsoft Studios, Remedy Entertainment
Xbox 360
This psychological thriller follows Alan Wake, a writer who hasn’t written anything in months as he goes on vacation with his wife. Once they arrive in the sleepy town of Bright Falls, she disappears and Wake finds himself trapped in a nightmare story he swears he knows word for word, even though he hasn’t written it yet.
Okamiden: Chiisaki Taiyo – Capcom
Nintendo DS
After Clover Studios was shut down, Okami fans were afraid they would never see another instalment in the series but lucky for us, Capcom has continued the franchise with Okamiden: Chiisaki Taiyo on the Nintendo DS. The demons have returned to Nippon and Chibiterasu, the son of Amaterasu has been summoned along with his celestial brush to silence them forever.
Super Mario Galaxy 2 – Nintendo
Nintendo Wii
This could possibly be the year of the Nintendo hardcore fan with so many of the major franchises coming out with titles this year. Super Mario Galaxy 2 will be hitting the Nintendo Wii this year with Mario finally sharing the spotlight with his old pal, Yoshi. Also look for Sin and Punishment 2 and Metroid: Other M on the Wii this year.
New Legend of Zelda Title – Nintendo
Nintendo Wii
Not much is known about the storyline of the future Legend of Zelda title but Nintendo places the release date for the game sometime in late 2010. The only thing we have seen from the game so far is a piece of artwork which shows Link with a shield and no sword, and him standing with a mysterious figure that shares common features similar to the Master Sword. [Update: When I wrote this, Nintendo hadn't announce the delay on this title.]
Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Conviction – Ubisoft, Ubisoft Montreal
Xbox 360 and PC
After seeing a stellar demo of Splinter Cell: Conviction at the Xbox Holiday Preview Event, I knew right off this would be the game to look for in the New Year. Due for release in February, Conviction follows Sam Fisher as he goes on the war path to find the men responsible for the death of his daughter but he is no longer with the Third Echelon and they are hunting him now.
StarCraft II – Blizzard Studios
PC
This is going to be a huge year for Blizzard – though... with an online legion of World of Warcraft players so big that they could start their own nation, when isn’t it Blizzard’s year. StarCraft II, a sequel that fans have been waiting for since the first game came out in 1998, is finally going to be hitting computers everywhere this year. On top of this amazing event, WoW will also be seeing a new expansion called Cataclysm and there’s always hope that Diablo 3 will be announced for the end of the year. Blizzard will definitely be rolling in the cash this year.
On top of these giant titles, I’m also keen on Halo: Reach, I Am Alive, Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, Death Spank, Lost Planet 2, Dante’s Inferno, Dark Void, Epic Mickey, Darksiders, Mass Effect 2, The Last Guardian and Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO; all amazing titles that have been announced for 2010. This year is full of great games just waiting for us to play the heck out of them and I for one can't wait to jump into the newest January titles I’ve already begun picking up. Expect reviews on these games and more this year from The Girl Gamer.

Epic 8-Bit Art: Pixel Art Around the Internets: Updated with Video
A pixel painting by Lost Child, another member of the Pixelgasm forum. (Pixel painting is when you paint the entire piece via tiny little squares). This is an unfinished piece but Lost Child plans to finish it real soon. This painting is from the intro of Link's Awakening. You can find more of Lost Child's artwork on her Deviant Art page. This is one way to get people to buy your soda at your store. Kudos to the creative stockboy genius at this store. [Via Mr. Spooky's Dtoid C-blog]UPDATED:
Then there's the guy only known as Jeff who's been apparently using his time on Farmville, the new Facebook app much more creatively then the rest of us who are just trying to get a damn barn. All these cool sprites are made from coloured hay bails you can buy in the game.

Epic 8-Bit Bead Art: Fire Wall
Another Doctor Octoroc original!
A custom, framed, solid bead sprite depicting an RPG style battle between Nintendo's three main mascots (Samus, Link and Mario) and a giant XBox 360 posessed by the head of Microsoft's Bill Gates. This scene parallels the battle with the Evil Wall in Final Fantasy 4 for SNES.
Final piece can be seen at the 8-Bit and Beyond art show at Brave New World comics on 2nd St. in Philadelpia on Friday, August 7th, 2009 at 6pm.

Epic 8 Bit Bead Art: Hey! It's Link and Navi

I still can't believe she figured out how to iron the little Navi sparkles without losing them in the process. I always have to modify my sprites to include a few more pixels or suffer the loss of a pixel or two in the end.
You can check out Serena's flickr page to see more of her amazing artwork and as well as her Etsy store.

Link Munny and Zell Munny
Miss Shelby is back with some new and amazing munny designs. The crafty lady behind the Boo munny has created one of the best Link munnies I've seen yet as well as a neat little Zell munny from Final Fantasy VIII.
I've always been impressed with the kinds of characters that come out of these blank munny figures and still want to try my hand at making one. That's a project for this summer maybe.

Epic 8-Bit Bead Art: Princess Zelda is Friggn' Gorgeous

Okay, so maybe I'm getting a bit carried away by my title statement but this has to be one of the best Zelda custom sprites I have ever seen.
Now the original sprites was created my master sprite creator, Abyss Wolf, who's wonderful artwork can also be found on Deviant Art, but the final bead project that you see above was created by my favorite snack lover, Xstatic.
Xstatic unfortunately doesn't have any websites that I know of, so just check out her stuff here at the Pixelgasm Forums.

E3 2009: New Wii Zelda Game in 2010?
So this is the secret Zelda concept art that was shown to the media behind closed doors to announce that there will be indeed a new Zelda game for the Nintendo Wii in 2010.Many are speculating that the mystery woman in the picture is a living incarnation of the Master Sword for two reasons:
- Link is missing his sword in the picture
- the woman's body is similar in shape the hilt of the Master Sword.
I'm not jumping to any conclusion right now as all my theory brain space is reserved for Lost. Not a lot of room in there for videogame theories with all that "what happened to Jacob?" and "what was that white flash?" pondering to do? And don't get me started on the evil guy that's in Locke's body.
I figure we'll know more soon as no gaming company can keep a lid on a game this big for long.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask Opening Cinematic
I remember playing this game and finishing every little side quest. The last one I completed was the couple's mask quest that took all three days to complete and if the messed up or missed a part at any point during those three days, you had to start all over again at the beginning of the first day. Worst part was at the end of the three day where you had to go through the puzzle rooms. I always messed up there and it sucked having to go back to the first day again.
I have such an urge now to buy all the old Zelda games on the virtual console. I could buy Zelda 1 and 2 in cartridge form from my NES but the rest will have to be VC downloads.

Google Artist Loves Zelda

If you look on the front page of Google today, you'll see a special Earth Day art piece posted. However if you looked really closely, you'll see in the bottom left hand side that the artist has hidden a triforce in between all the watery and earthy goodness.

The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks Trailer
The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks follows in the footsteps as Phantom Hourglass with DS stylus control and will also continue on from where Phantom Hourglass left off in its storyline. The new game will focus around trains instead of boats this time though.
I'm still hoping for a new Zelda Wii game soon.

My Mother's Day Present - Link's Awakening
So I'm over at my Mom's house right now complete bombed on prescription pain killers for my migraines, so pardon my bad writing or lovey-dovey moment. I'm at my Mom's house right now because once a week I stay over night in order to go to a Headache Clinic in Toronto to get nerve blocks for my migraines. Not the most fun experience to get 12 needles in your head but it helps to dull the pain, so I deal.
Anyway, today I found in the dining room an old Mother's day present from when I was a kid. It was a cartoon I drew from an old Nintendo Power Issue cover. The 50th issue had a special Link's Awakening cover that featured the owl from the game and my Mom loved owls, so I drew the owl for my Mom and gave it to her. It was part of the gift I gave her for which I can't remember the rest. I can't believe my Mom still had the owl drawing so I thought it would be cool to scan it and post it. Not bad for someone who can't really draw that well.

Epic 8-Bit Art: Mario and His Yoshi Reindeer
Over at the Pixelgasm Forum, we were modifying sprites for the holiday season and this has to be my favorite so far. With Santa Mario at the helm of his Yoshi reindeer team, AnimeFur managed to create an entire sleigh complete with a sack of toys and Link as a little elf. I love it!

Link's Awakening: Now with Puppets
The Japanese always have the best commercials.
This is a weird commercial for the Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening for the Gameboy. Gotta love anything with strange puppets. Too bad that puppet was available for sale because I know tons of fanboys who would purchase it in a second.

Legend of Zelda Fan Robs a Bank: We're Sending Tingle After Him
Apparently some guy robbed a bank in Waterbury, Connecticut on Monday wearing a Legend of Zelda hat and we gamers are disappointed.Bad enough we have to deal with the public thinking we're all a bunch of hooker bashing, police killing psychos but now even the gentle Nintendo fans have to worry about getting labeled as bank robbers because of this idiot.
Next time wear some kind of trucker's hat with a sports team on it or better yet be a smart bank robber and wear a ski mask, so no one can identify your face in any possible way. Dumb @ss.
