It's been a long time since this blogger wrote for the all grown up and professional Destructoid gaming website, but I was proud to see the site announce today that they would be produced their own physical paper magazine. You can pre-order your issues here.
There is a digital copy available for free as well but not until later in the week.

Screw GTA IV Reviews: Best GTA IV Special Edition Contents Review Evar!

Because Necros is trying to win a clog contest he can't open his copy of GTA IV, so instead of reviewing the game like everyone else, he decided to review the contents of the Special Edition version. Best of all, he included lots of pictures for us.
Here's a small bit from the review:
So here we have the box. It's cardboard. It's white. It has a logo on it. And there's some angry Slavic man looking like he's going to kick my ass for smiling so much. If I didn't feel intimidated by his stare, I would almost consider keeping this box out in my room as though it were a promotional display in a store. PS3 owners take note: your box will not feature an Xbox 360 logo - something about licensing - and has a picture of some hooker (slut? ho'bag?) seductively licking a lollipop. I think I'd be more inclined to keep Sony's variant near my bed for...reference...but oh well
Head over to the Necros' Clog to read the whole piece.

Saying goodbye to the Robot

I really hate to be posting this, but recent circumstances in my life have made it really hard for me to devote the time to Destructoid that it deserves and so I've decided to step down as a writer for the site.
I still plan to lurk in the community blogs and beg Dtoid for a link or two once in a while, but my plan is to focus on my own blog and my reviews for the Pulse Niagara.
I loved every moment I worked for Destructoid and appreciate the chance that Niero gave me. He will always be the best boss I've ever worked for and there will always be a place in my heart for the robot and Destructoid.
I wish the best of luck to the site and staff. Destructoid is destined for great things, but I don't think I'm good enough as a writer to be apart of that. In the beginning, Dtoid was just gamers writing about gaming, but Niero wants to make the site professional and I just don't fit that mold.
I hope to develop my writing and my status in the gaming industry in my own projects, so that maybe one day I can meet that professional level.
It's hard for me to leave after 2 years and it feels like I'm breaking up with a boyfriend. I love Dtoid and all, but we're just not right for each other anymore. Better that we break it off now and stay friends in the long run.
I hope everyone will still check out my blog, The Girl Gamer from time to time. I promise to still post stuff in the cblogs. Besides I can't cut the community out completely without leaving a big hole in my heart.

Bringing in the new and remembering the old.

2007 was good year and it ended even better than it started.
I was in a crappy job I hated and was making no money at in January 2007 and now in January 2008, I have a crappy job that I make no money at but the difference is I'm happy in this job. I spend hours surrounding by videogames and toys. I love it.
Some days I want to steal a giant stuffed dog from the floor and just sleep on it in the break room. They're so big and fluffy.
This year was a good year for games. My personal favorites for the year in no certain order are:
1. BioShock
2. Puzzle Quest (XBLA)
3. Cooking Mama 2: Dinner with Friends
4. Final Fantasy XII
5. Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales
6. The Orange Box
7. Viva Pinata
8. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
9. My Sims
10. Blue Dragon
Games I want to play soon that I missed out on this year:
1. Super Mario Galaxy
2. Overlord
3. Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom
4. Mario Party 8
5. Zak and Wiki
6. Pokemon Diamond and Pearl
7. Rayman Raving Rabbids 2
8. Assassin's Creed
9. Mass Effect
10. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune/Heavenly Sword (I need a PS3.)
This was a good year for bunnies. DAHHHHH! I finally got a little Rayman Rabbids button that screams when you touch it. THANK YOU, COLETTE AND NIERO! Still need my plushie though.
I bought tons of neat videogame action figures: Resident Evil 1 & 4, Zelda: Twillight Princess and Final Fantasy X/X-2. I got a moogle and chocobo plushie. More t-shirts than ever. Plus I got on a t-shirt.
Finally got to a videogame event, X'07 and I miss you, Ryan (Cosbytron).
My nieces are gamer. My little niece was playing with her Gameboy at Christmas. Super Mario World 2 ... the memories. I'm glad to see future gamers enjoying the classics. So they be graduating to Final Fantasy games. *tears* so beautiful.
Hopefully 2008 holds more opportunities for me with Destructoid, and with new and better day jobs.
I wish everyone at Destructoid a safe and happy 2008. May your games be entertaining and long, may your system never crash and may you never run out of extra lives in any game, especially the one called life.

This is why I love the people at Destructoid ... FURRIES!!!!!
Look Ron drinks ... alot and that tends to led to crazy ideas and videos. The incredible Joe "Buck Fitches" Burling and Ryan "Cosbytorn" teamed up with Ron NSFWorkman to create the very first furry Guitar Hero band. Check out the video above and prepare to laugh your butt off.
Send it to your friends and family. Spam the people at work with it. Put it in your favorites section on You Tube. Do whatever it takes to get this video on the most viewed video page on You Tube.
Check out the original post on Destructoid too - Ron always has a few words of wisdom to go with his videos.

If you love me, you'll wear me.

DTOID Rampage t-shirt design @ © SplitReason.com
Destructoid came out with a clothing line a couple of months ago and I'm patiently awaiting my first Destructoid female t-shirt in the mail. I'm also waiting for the newest design to start shipping this month.
What is so special about this new design? Well, it has me on the t-shirt too! Last year, a Destructoid reader created a rampage style Mr. Destructoid character and put him on the side of a building while holding me.
Destructoid sold the design in a limited amount and I was unable to buy the t-shirt before they ran out. Now I have my chance to not only buy the t-shirt but get it in a female size.
Look for it before the end of the month on Splitreason.com

Update on The Girl Gamer

I've been a busy bee lately and thought I'd catch everyone up on my goings-on.
I've been playing lots of BioShock and I'm already on my second round through the game. I finished it on the "Good, non-harvesting" ending and now all those little darlings' adam is mine. *evil laugh*
I'm never been one for first person shooter but BioShock is just so pretty and I love the storyline. So, I'm allowing for a change in genres and playing the sucker on easy. I know ... I'm a pussy, but I want to finish this game in the next year, okay?!
I've also been playing Carcassonne like it's sugar laced with crack. It's so hard to find to people to play with though. No one seems to own the full version of this game. So everyone reading this, buy it ... buy it now, so you can play with me online.
I've been chatting with a new friend, Shermaine from Player1 magazine and we've been talking about me freelancing for the magazine. Nothing is for sure yet and don't panic, I'll still be blogging here and Destructoid. I will always be loyal to Destructoid as Niero has always been good to me and I would never leave Dtoid over anything. Even in death, I plan to blog from the grave.
Work is crappy as always and my job hunt has turned to thoughts of school. I love to write, but I need more training, cause we all know my grammer blows. So in the Spring, I may opt for an online writing course at Niagara College, so I can see how I'll handle the homework thing again and then I'll look into full time school or something. Besides, employers tend to be more dazzled by diplomas, then real life experience alone.

I'm still selling all my goodies over on Etsy.com @ pixelatedcreations.etsy.com. I have everything from Chocobo bag tags to Ms Pac Man key chains. Take a look and buy from me! I'm up to my ears in Perler Beads. Prices are $10 and down and shipping is $2 for US and Canada.
I'm also selling tons of stuff on eBay. I'm addicted to that site now. I spend way too much on there as is, but I love selling on there too. It's like a never ending garage sale. I may throw some more games up soon from my PC collection and my RPG books from Changeling and Vampire.
Well, that's all for now. Thanks for reading and keep reading Dtoid too.

Miss Video Game continues to fail

This morning I checked my email to find a message about Miss Video Game. One of my fellow writers wanted to promote some of the Dtoid readers that had made it into the top 48 (note: it was suppose to be the top 50 - I guess two girls dropped out after they made into the top 50) which is all good but one of the other writers noticed some familiar looking articles on their front page.
Miss Video Game was using the Destructoid feed to post our articles but there was nothing at the top of the feed to indicate where the articles were coming from. When I emailed the people behind MVG about this, they quickly remove our feed and replaced it with Gizmodo's feed. Of course, they are still not citing a source for the feed, just linking each title to the original story which makes it look like the articles are written by them.
[Update: I guess my email to the editor at Gizmodo was worth it because it seems MVG has finally credited Gizmodo at the top of the article column. I guess Gizmodo sent them a letter asking them to give them credit too.]
I also loved the fact that they still haven't responded to my email. I guess they'd rather remove the feed instead of apologising for not giving our site credit for the stories. How unprofessional.
I still can't believe this company still continues to screw up almost everything they do and yet girls still remain in the contest. I noticed that even the final contest between the final 5 has been pushed back from June to August to November now. I believe even the final 50 competition has been pushed back from April to sometime in August.
MVG has also decided to hold the final competition at Festivale Arcadia instead of holding the event on their own. Apparently doing this is going to make the contest seem more legit in the eyes of the 20,000+ gamers attending this festival. Yeah, ummm ... And G4's Girl Gamer contest made it more legit being on a cable TV station and where is she now?
This contest is so badly run that they can't even get their act together to run each part of the contest on the original dates set. I can't believe after all this time, they still can't get it together.
[Please note: I'm not providing links to the site because I refuse to provide them traffic any more.]

First I made a Mr. Destructoid piece using my logo shirt as a template. I hope you like it fellow Dtoiders.
