8-Bit Art: R2D2 Stand Up Pixel Art

Another new design out of my Pixelized Creations Etsy store:

R2D2 from the Star Wars franchise - this little droid is made from perler fused beads and he has legs that attached on either side of his body through a tab and slot system that allow him to stand up on any flat surface like a computer desk or shelf.

R2D2's legs are a custom design by Pixelized Creations. Please do not recreate for commercial purposes.
The body is another person's design but I was not able to track down the original creator as it has been recreated so many times.

You can purchase R2D2 via my Etsy store for $10 Canadian plus shipping.

Also check out the rest of the great pixel art items I have in my store - Pixelized Creations.

Happy Friday the 13th!

A little retro throwback to celebrate Friday the 13th. My fused bead creation, Jason from the Nintendo NES game, Friday the 13th. I made him with colours from the movies rather than the game though.

And speaking of Friday the 13th games, yesterday the kickstarter project, Friday the 13th game hit its target goal of $700,000. This multiple player game which is being created by Gun Media will allow you to play as Jason Voorhees for the first time ever and have you stalking the camp counselors of Camp Crystal Lake. Or you can play as one of camp counselors as they attempt to survive the night.

This project sees the return of Tom Savini, the makeup mastermind behind the look of the original Jason in Friday the 13th series and Kane Hodder, probably the best actor behind the mask in the series.

There is still 14 hours to go on this kickstarter project if you want to grab a perk while they are still available. Head over to their kickstarter page to check out all the perks which range from $5 to $10,000.

Minecraft Cupcakes

My nephew's birthday party is today and he is a big fan of Minecraft, so being the awesome Aunt I am, I decided to make him a bunch of Minecraft cupcakes. Problem is he is really picky... I mean really picky. He only likes vanilla cupcakes with vanilla icing and they have to be white in colour, so I made a bunch of Minecraft cupcake toppers for him out of perler beads.

I made 6 weapons and tools and stuck them into the cupcakes, and then I made 6 characters and monsters from the game and just placed them on top of the cupcakes. I really love the final product and hope to sell these in my store at some point. I hope my nephew like these too. I figure these would make great magnets afterwards or we could use them to make a frame or something.

If you like my pixel art work, please check out my Etsy store and Kickstarter campaign for more artwork.

Help me fund my Etsy store, Pixelized Creations again

I have been trying to restart my Etsy store, once Pixelated Creations, but now called Pixelized Creations but due to a lack of funds, I have not been able to get the supplies needed to stock my store with all the best items.

I have a few items up in the store but only old items I have on hand but nothing is selling and so I can't put any money towards buying any new supplies for new items which I know will sell like they used to.

So I have decided to turn to Kickstarter to bank roll my store reopening. There are various pledge levels from $5 to $50 with lots of great reward items like Chocobo & Moogle magnets, Super Mario Bros. Mushroom keychains, Final Fantasy Character 4 magnet sets, Secret of Mana magnets set, and more.

Please check my Kickstarter page out and consider pledging. Once I have reached my goal of $300 (beads are not cheap even though they are a kid's craft), I will get everyone's rewards out as soon as possible.

Check it out here.

My Cube Companion in 3D Perler Beads

Before I finished with the whole perler bead craft, I actually managed to create a 3D version of a companion cube out of Perler beads. I am not selling them just because the cube is really fragile and it would be difficult to ship but it was so damn cool to make.

I found the instructions here.

Another Image Thief: Beeliciouss

One of the forum members posted this site today and I just about fell over from all the images this person had ripped off from all my fellow bead artists.

Beeliciouss posts on (her?) site that she just came back from the US and while there, she met an artist that created all these fabulous creations which she wants to help sell. Problem is all the crafts she's trying to sell on the site for her "artist friend" are actually all crafts from various bead artists (that I know) and not just one person. Plus one of the images is actually mine and I sure as hell didn't give her permission to sell my work.

Actually if a person really paid attention to the images and the payment options on the site, they could see the whole thing is a scam. The images don't match up in some cases, for example, the Owl brooches/pendants - she shows you a picture of a hair accessory but offers to sell you a pendant. The payment options don't include anything that would allow you to secure your purchases like a creditcard or Paypal would, so basically she can take your money and run once the transaction is complete. Personally I don't buy anything online anymore unless I can purchase it with Paypal and even then I do my homework before I buy.

I really hate when people do this. It's one thing to rip off someone's idea and sell it as your own because then you are at least doing the work for the money, but this woman probably just googled a bunch of bead art and posted up on a site in hopes she could con a bunch of people into sending her money in exchange for nothing. Though honestly, if any one is dumb enough to buy anything off an unsecure site at almost triple what they are worth, then maybe they deserve to get ripped off.

UPDATE: So Beeliciouss has blocked me from her page and made it accessible only to certain logins, so you will have to check out this link instead - http://beeliciouss.livejournal.com/ another site full of other people's items she's offering to swap or sell items but again she's using pictures from other people's sites. If you scroll down the page, you'll see another bead art group of items where you can see a picture with a watermark that she's tried to erase as much as possible without erasing the actual products in the picture. You can still see though the www.mi .... a.livejournal.com which obviously isn't her blog address.

She's really clever doing the whole item swap thing on the one site because people are even more likely to trust item swaps and she'll end up with a whole bunch of free stuff, but again if you pay attention to the requirements of her swap - she wants specific items in exchange for her items. In the end, she gets something she really wants and you will get nothing.

Art Thief Alert: Frost Claw Studios

Hyrule Sword and Shield by ~Frost-Claw-Studios on deviantART Oh the douchebags, they just keep coming don't they? If the internet has taught me anything as an artist, it is one thing. WATERMARK, WATERMARK, WATERMARK! God, the newest pattern of mine to spread like fucking herpes throughout the beading community is my Master Sword idea along with the borrowed but always credited Shield from Gold Stud (which is what he always asked for). I posted this combo on my flickr account back in May 2009 but recently it has appeared on Deviant Art about 5 or 6 times and someone decided to sell it on Etsy.

Now I don't mind people using my original work as long as they credit me but one guy posting under Frost Claw Studios is not only using my work but he is claiming it as he own. Plus he's using other artist's work I know like Geek Mythology and he really is claiming he made her work - complete with dumb links to posters that apparently inspired him.
Left4DeadTank - His
Left4DeadTank - GM

He was banned from one site for stealing original work but now he's moved onto Deviant Art and has just reposted everything there. I tried to ask for credit on my piece but he banned me from the comments, so no one can see the truth of what he did.

I would ask that everyone post a little something on his page to remind him that stealing isn't cool and maybe even report his ass to the site. My sword pattern I made out of thin air - no modded, no nothing and I don't appreciate other people ripping my stuff off and selling it without at least giving me credit. Click on the picture above and let him know that not crediting artists for their hardwork is not cool, if you have a deviant art account.

Apparently Now I'm From Costa Rica

So the other day I got an email from a friend telling me that I work has appeared on a gallery for Perler Bead art. So I followed the link she sent me and find my 3D Mario Mushroom picture uploading onto some gallery for a Perler Bead store but it's listed under the name, Adrian - 14-year-old, Costa Rica. What the fuck!

Now I wouldn't be so mad if it was my design he stole but it was my picture. He couldn't even get up of his lazy little 14-year-old butt to made the god damn thing himself in order to earn the pattern the site offers when you post something in the gallery. Nope, he just ripped off my picture and uploaded it.

But I have spies everywhere as I always say and I found out. I emailed the main parent company site, EK Success Brands, to get them to take the picture down but they never responded, useless pricks ... so I'm just going to rant about their lack of help and this little bastard, Adrian on all my online outlets. Probably won't do anything but it makes me feel better.

Also from here on out, every one of my photos will be re-uploaded with my company name on them. I am so sick of people stealing my photos and custom designs.

Epic 8-Bit Art: Clap Trap Bead Art

In my effort to support the local bead artist 501 union, here's another bead artist I want to showcase because her and I were victims of art theft today plus I have been in love with her Clap Trap piece for a while now since I saw it on Etsy.

GamerArt or Ashley as I've come to know her today has just a few items on her Etsy store but so far they are wicked cool. My favorite is the Clap Trap which runs for $30.00US plus shipping but you can also find a Batman symbol, Mortal Kombat symbol and a Companion Cube.

Check her store out for lots of goodies. Support the union! We have our bead habit to support.

Someone Got Bored the Other Day and Stole My Work - UPDATED

I have spies everywhere - remember that and I have Google - http://twitter.com/SporkEnthusiast - her real name is Samantha Allison. Hi bitch!

So today I get a Flickr message from a very nice person who informs me that some douchebag named SPORKENTHUSIAST (got that... good) has decided to claim my bead artwork as their own and post it on Reddit.com. And before anyone starts into the whole copyright debate, I'm not talking about patterns, I'm talking about actually pictures of my friggn' work.

They actually ripped pictures of four of my creations from the net, along with two other images from two other artists. They posted old pictures of my Sonic, Tails, Master Chief and Link & Zelda creations. I've updated most of the pictures in my flickr account now to newer ones, but I still have the old ones to compare to in my Etsy store. You can see for yourselves from the links I posted above that they are the same.

Luckily my bead work is so easy to spot that my Flickr friend noticed they were mine and pointed out his theft. Also they were exposed by one of the other artists they stole from and that ultimately got the thread removed.

The thread is still there for viewing but I can't put in my two cents in the comments, so instead I reported everything they were doing - every comment, every story - everything. Hopefully the people at Reddit.com will ban them for something.

God I hate the internet sometimes - cause it makes it too easy for people to do this.

Stop Motion Animation with Perler Beads

The Pixelgasm forum's newest member, Hardened Heart posted this recently - this guy must have the patience of a Buddhist master to be able to bead and then remove each item for this video.
