I went to Starbucks with my girlfriend last night to part take of their satan cups and as I was standing in line, I saw this:
Starbucks really is evil. The Umbrella Corporation is secretly running Starbucks behind the scenes and they just couldn't help but put their logo on at least one piece of merchandise in the stores.
I am onto you Umbrella Corporation. You are putting something into the lattes at Starbucks and slowly turning the world into mindless coffee drinking hipsters. That's why I drink the hot chocolate only.

It's Official: Albert Wesker is Dead.

Today I heard the worst news that moved me to tears though. I may have held back my tears at the end of Resident Evil 5 but not now, because now I know the worst is true ... Albert Wesker is dead.
Siliconera is reporting from a Comic Con 2009 Capcom panel that Masachika Kawata, Producer for Resident Evil games that Albert Wesker will not be returning for the next Resident Evil game.
Kawata stated to a panel attendee, “Even if you want Albert Wesker to come back there is no chance of that happening.”
This probably means that Wesker won't be appearing in Resident Evil 6 or other sequel games that continue on the storyline from RE5. However that doesn't mean Wesker won't be appearing in RE: The Darkside Chronicles which is currently in the works and any other prequels, ports or remakes.
So while Albert may still return in spirit to replay his evil deeds of the past, it seems all future "take over the world" plots are out of the question for our sweet, departed Wesker. Farewell, you evil, sexy bastard, you. *cries*

Leon Kroft? - Random Sprites from Pixel Joint

Pixel Joint, a community for pixel artists is one of my favorite haunts to find new and cool pictures for my beading projects. Every so often I find amazing remakes of videogame characters that scream to be made into a bead piece. The sprite, Leon Kroft by Rabidbaboy, you see above is not one of those.
However, the ones below are.

I highly suggest checking out all the artwork on Pixel Joint because there are tons of cool animated and non-animated sprites to find on there. I wish I was so talented with the pixel to create such amazing artwork.

New Resident Evil Commercial: WHAT THE F@#K CAPCOM!
I get the message they are trying to convey with Chris Redfield becoming so messed up from the events in Resident Evil 5 that he can no longer handle live anymore, but Capcom do you really need to promote suicide in your commercials to get that across?
The gaming industry gets enough of a beating everyday because it apparently warps young peoples' minds with violence and sex, and now you want to promote your game with images of suicide. Nice one, why don't you just throw in some rape and incest in your next marketing campaign too? With the racism and violence already in the game that will pretty much around out the all the worst offenses you could have.
Come on Capcom. You don't need to go down that road with your marketing, so let's clean it up and keep the horrible stuff down to a minimum.

Avon = Umbrella Corporation?
Well watch this trailer from Resident Evil: Apocalypse.
Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles - Japanese Debut Trailer
This is the surprise that Capcom has been holding back from Nintendo Wii owners for the past couple of weeks. I'm willing to give another rails-shooter on Nintendo Wii a go, especially if it's a Resident Evil game, but please no more lack of ammo and herb mixing.

Her real name is Jessika and she lives in Ottawa, Canada. She became interested in the arts when she was 13-years-old and is a huge fan of Sailor Moon and Sonic the Hedgehog. Jessika has a college degree in Fine Arts and a bachelor's degree in Arts and Design. Her art style tends to be more comic book and though she started her artwork as a hobby, she now takes orders for commissioned pieces.

Capcom Unveils New Box Art for Resident Evil 5

Capcom has finally released the brand new box art for Resident Evil 5 and it looks creepy as ever. Probably the most anticipated game of 2009, Resident Evil 5 looks fabulous in all the trailers so far and I personally can't wait to get my hands on it.
Capcom has also launched the official website that has tons of exclusive content to check out as well as a strange mystery surrounding "It Came From Kijuju" to unravel.

New Resident Evil: Degeneration Footage
Being that videogame movies tend to flop, I really hope since Capcom is overseeing the creation of Resident Evil: Degeneration that this movie will be awesome like Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children and not Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within.

TGS '08: New Resident Evil Trailer x 2
2 new Resident Evil 5 trailer has appeared in the wilds of the Toyko Game Show which started this week. These sweet new trailer gives more information about the storyline and best of all, it has my favorite Resident Evil badboy, Wesker!
The second trailer below is recorded with shaky cam though and has subtitles so bare with it. Keep watching all the way through as there is a disturbing image at the end which will have veteran fans of the game upset as I am.
I can't wait for this game to hit store shelves. Expect this game to be in my hot little hands on launch day.

Shop Smart, Shop with Ash!

Well, I recently added two more designs onto my store: one is just a corporate logo from an evil zombie making company you just might recognize, while the other is a homage to my favorite deadite @ss kicker, Ash from Army of Darkness.
In my spare time, I plan to work on a few new designs, but for now check out what's there and tell me what you think.
You can find my store, The PWN Shop here.

Comic-Con 08: Resident Evil: Degeneration - UPDATED
UPDATED WITH DIRECT FEED VIDEO, INSTEAD OF SHAKEY CAM VIDEO.
Comic-Con 2008 goers were treated with a new trailer for a Resident Evil movie, but not a sequel to the 3 live action Resident Evil movies. No, this puppy is a brand new CGI Resident Evil movie from Capcom starring our beloved Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield.
Apparently there is a God and he wanted to see Resident Evil movies starring actual Resident Evil characters too.
The movie, Resident Evil: Degeneration takes place 7 years after the incident in Raccoon City, when a new outbreak of the T-Virus is just beginning.

New Resident Evil 5 Trailer - Man without a parasite ridden body coming through!
Newest trailer for Resident Evil 5 looks incredible. We finally get to see more about the game and understand we'll be up against in the latest installment in the series.
Your zombies seem to be more like the enemies from RE 4 with the whole weird parasites infecting their bodies and forcing others to ingest the parasite creatures too. There seems to be a crazy cult leader again too, but this time he screaming about people trying to take their land and how those people are going to die.
You see some sort of underground temple ruins in the first few frames of the trailer, which makes me think that maybe the villagers covered the parasites in these ruins and it basically spread from there. Much like Resident Evil 4, there will be multiple types of parasites and boss parasites to kill. Funny stuff!
Also you get to see one of the support characters in the game who's a strong, black female character, which will hopefully make the people calling this game racist, happy. Look Capcom believes that people from all races should help kill zombies to save the world, not just white people. The female character seems to be possible from Africa or at least familiar with Africa and she might not know Chris Redfield from previous games.
Capcom seems to have incorporated the crowd mechanics from Dead Rising into the game which I'm not sure if I like that idea. If anyone remembers, I really didn't like Dead Rising and if Capcom puts any of the irritating points from that game into my Resident Evil, I'll slap them. Bad enough they keep ruining Mega Man - I won't let them kill my Resident Evil.
This is the only media in the world that I'll brave scary zombies to play, besides the RE movies and Shawn of the Dawn. Beyond that they have to be PG-13 Zombies for me to watch them, even then I've been scared. (There was a Goosebumps movie ... don't ask. I'm not proud.)
Can't wait for the game to be released. Looks pretty darn spiffy.

Review: Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles
I've been a fan of the Resident Evil games for a long time. It's the only franchise that I'm willing to sit scared out of my wits through that involves Zombies. I hate Zombies.
I picked up Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles on Friday and it was and wasn't what I expected. I love arcade light gun games like House of the Dead and when I heard that Resident Evil Zero through three was getting the light gun treatment, I was excited. I tend to play better with a light gun than a controller, so that's why I love these games.
As I figured the game was like a light gun shooter with the "on the rails" type of camera angle and movement, but little did I know how much like the Resident Evil games this game was. Most RE games provide you with little ammo and health items which is fine because you don't have a horde of zombies and monsters chasing you for the entire game. This allows for a good allocation of your items over time.
In RE:UC, you have the same amount of items as in previous games, but you have hordes of zombies tailing your butt through the entire game. This makes it damn near impossible to survive each level. Thank God for the unlimited hand gun ammo or I'd really be screwed.
The difficulty setting were based on a sharp shooter's capabilities or something, because I died ten times on the first boss on normal difficulty setting, before I started the game over on easy. But even on easy, I'm running through by the skin of my teeth.
The game claims that each enemy has a weak point that will light up red on your cross hairs and if shot, the enemy will fall easier, but that just doesn't seem the case. A head shot to a normal zombie with the hand gun and he still needs another shot to go down. I figure one bullet to the brain should kill anyone, even a zombie.
The game lacks the real creepiness of the original RE games. Zombies don't really jump out at you like they did before and the music that constantly plays during the game, makes everything less on edge. The silence of RE is what helps you freak out at the appropriate times. Nothing like a zombie dog jumping through a glass window to break the silence and cause you to jump in your seat.
The "on rails" movement and view point tend to make it difficult in some areas to pick up items. You can only hope that the camera turns back to that area, if you miss a item that runs by your view point too quickly. It really sucks to miss key files, ammo or health, especially when you are about to die.
I like the whole new information aspect of the game. Not that I've gotta that far yet, but I'm looking forward to learning the secrets of the umbrella corporation later in the stages. Wesker narrates the story from a third person view which is really cool and I can't wait to play him as a character later on.
Every level has a small cinematic from the original RE games to help move the story long, but the in game mode has you stuck to the path of the mission. You can't go back, you can only go forward, unless the camera decides to turn you around. You can slightly look around, but not behind you; only to the left and right of your view.
Each stage gives you a character or two to pick from to play and their starting weapons. You can even modify each weapons after each stage completion. You can do this with points you gain from your level grades. The grades are like previous RE games.
The game controls are pretty easy. I had trouble with grenade throwing at first, but figured it out finally when I tried the easy level. You can use the remote for shooting, knife defense and throwing grenades and the nunchuk for switching your weapons and camera angle. Health items are automatic. Herbs are instant and first aid sprays save you after you die.
The graphics are about as good as previous last generation consoles, but considering how nice those were, I can't complain about them. I could but no one would hear me anyway.
All and all, I wouldn't recommend this game as a buy, more as a rental. The game isn't worth the price tag and it doesn't even come with the Wii Zapper which you can play it with. You have to buy it separate with Link's Crossbow Training.

Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles Gameplay Footage
I'm not a huge fan of first person shooters as everyone should know by now, but secretly I do love to play arcade shooters like House of the Dead or Carnival King. Give me a light gun and I'll kill monsters from sunrise to sunset. I love using light guns because I can aim much better than I can with a controller.
With Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles coming out soon for the Wii, I'm so exciting at having a "House of the Dead" type rail shooter to play. I love the Resident Evil series and the trailers look so good. The bonus will be me being able to play the old Resident Evil 2 & 3 because I never got to before. Looking forward to picking this wicked looking game next Tuesday.
