First Minute from The X-Files 2016 Reboot Series

Next Sunday and Monday on Fox, The X-Files will return to the small screen for the first time since 2002. The series which had 9 seasons with 202 episodes and 2 movies (almost a third one) has not been on the air in 14 years but its fandom has never given up on the show nor its beloved actors.

Chris Carter, the series original creator, David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson, Mitch Pileggi and William B. Davis will all be returning to the new series, along with newcomer, Joel Mchale.

The series will only run for 6 episodes which is sad but I am hoping this only means they are testing the waters for an audience to bring back the show on a permanent basis.

The above video is a quick preview of the first minute of the first episode. It's laced with X-Files goodness.

If you also haven't had a chance to watch the special feature "The X-Files Re-Opened" take a minute to watch this 20 minute piece about the new series. It will give you a good idea of what the new series is about without any spoilers.

I was a huge fan of this show back in the day and I still refuse to watch certain episodes of the show because they scared the hell out of me like the ones with Victor Tombs or the one with the cockroaches. I had a huge crush on Mulder and that ended after seeing David Duchovny in Californication. Seeing him naked with a big gut while he is banging some chick and then he pukes on a painting - not sexy at all. Lost my geeky love for him....

Review: Netflix Original Series - Jessica Jones

So this morning, I had the utmost pleasure of watching the first episode of Netflix's original series, Jessica Jones and I can tell you it did not disappoint. I will tell you first off that I have never read the comic book series,  so I cannot tell you if the series holds true to the mythology or not, only if I liked the TV series in general.

Jessica Jones follows the story of a private detective named Jessica Jones played by Krysten Ritter who is endowed with super strength and the ability to hold down a lot of liquor. She is your typical private dick - lives alone, hates everyone, has a mean wit about her and barely has 2 dimes to rub together. She spends her time picking up cases from either people who walk through her door or the paid gigs she pulls from a local law firm given to her via lawyer, Jeryn Hogarth which is played by Carrie-Ann Moss.

Jessica Jones takes place in the same universe as the Avengers but the whole super hero thing is not used like a crutch here to carry the show. Jessica has super strength but other than a few broken doors and a moment with a dirt bag strip club owner, you barely remember Jessica even has powers throughout most of the episode. She relies on her street smarts to get the job done and I respect her for that. She only pulls out the big guns when she has to.

In the first episode, you discover that Jessica was once held captive by a man named Kilgrave played by David Tennant who has the ability to make people do anything he wants just by telling them to do it. Our heroine still suffers from PTSD from her experience, and we soon find out that her ordeal is not over and her newest case is making her crossing paths with this mad man again.

While you never actually see Kilgrave on screen for more than a few seconds at a time in the first episode, David Tennant's performance of him is chilling. I mean that literally as I got chills from the moments that he flashed behind Jessica and whispered in her ear. Plus it was scary to think about what a villain with the power of suggestion could do with all that power to innocent people.

The first episode briefly introduces the a few other of the show's characters like Luke Cage played by Mike Colter, whose name is not mentioned I believe, but he is around Jessica long enough to bang her and then make her throw up about afterwards. We also meet her only 2 friends, Trish Walker played by Rachel Taylor, who is a local on-air personality and a fiercely protective friend of Jessica's,  and Malcolm played by Eka Darville, her homely neighbour who is just as messed up as Jessica is.
Jessica Jones is definitely not your kid's marvel. It is a seedier and darker version where only adults should venture. It doesn't need flashy costumes or big names to draw people in. Best of all, this series is more proof that the women of the marvel universe can not only hold their own but fucking grip you tight and leaving you screaming for more and more, baby.

This is the series that every warm blooded adult should be watching right now. Seriously, stop working and go home to watch to binge watch this.

Definitely 5 stars from me.

What better host of SNL would there be than Cookie Monster from Sesame Street? I would watch the show.

This is Why You Never Steal from a Gamer

When two robbers target a PC Gaming store, they don't expect the several customers and shop owner inside to fight back but then again, they didn't know the golden rule about gamers - you may take our money, jewelery or even loved ones but if you demand our gaming gear, we will kill you.

Seriously, the gamers inside hand over all their cash to the robbers but the moment one of the robbers tries to take a guy's Nintendo DS, he friggn' goes all Mortal Kombat on his butt. What we won't do for our hobby?

Tim Schafer on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon

It is so cool that Jimmy Fallon continues to live up to his word and treat the game industry like any other entertainment industry out there. He interviewed the great Tim Schafer recently about the upcoming release of Brutal Legend and it was a pretty funny interview. Watch it above.

Morgan Webb on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon - Crazy Fun with Muppets and Rappers

G4TV's Morgan Webb recently appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon with other guests Ice-T and Elmo.

No, Am I not kidding ... she was on with Ice-T and the muppet, Elmo who apparently love to play videogames. Ice-T is a Call of Duty and Gears of War fan, while Elmo is only allowed to play Pac-Man.

Jimmy and Morgan checked out the new Nintendo Wii Punch-Out on the show. Apparently this is all part of Jimmy's promise to include more videogame coverage on the show.

Steve Wozniak on Dancing with the Stars

Steve Wozniak, the creator of the Apple Computer on Dancing with the Stars.

I tried to catch this during commercials last night, but I missed it. I refuse to watch this terrible show, but I thought it would be cute to see Steve Wozniak dance.

Apparently Steve didn't do so well. Poor Steve - stick to computers.

Lost Recap: LaFleur - UPDATED

* Sawyer, Juliette, Jin and Miles are left standing at the spot where the well was above the orchid station after the flash and realize they are now even further back in time as they stare at a large Egyptian statue (4 toe statue?).

* Above Locke moves the wheel causing the island to move in time again and the group is sent back to the 70s and the well returns but is now blocked by rocks and dirt. The group realizes though that their headaches and bloody noses are now gone.

* Heading back to Faraday, the group learns that Charlotte is dead and her body disappeared with the last flash.

* While heading back to the beach, the group comes across two Others who have killed a a male Dharma member and who are also about to kill a woman. Sawyer and Juliette come to the rescue but are attacked by the Others and end up shooting them dead.

* The Dharma woman, Amy tells them about a truce with the Others that must not be broken, so she pleads with the group to bury the Others and bring her husband's dead body back to the barracks with her. They agree reluctantly.

* Sawyer tells the group that a false back story must be given to the Dharma group to protect themselves and he gives a quick story about them surviving a shipwreck. The rest he would make up later but the group should let him do all the talking to be safe.

* As the group came upon the barracks, Juliette had to stop Faraday from walking across the sonic fence and getting his brain fried. Without giving too much away, she demanded Amy turn off the Sonic fence looking device and then made Amy go first across the line. Unfortunately Amy tricks the group with ear plugs and all of them fall victim to a mild pulse from the fence which causing them to pass out.

* Sawyer comes to in one of the barrack's buildings where he is met by Horace one of the Dharma leaders. He gives Horace a false name of James LaFleur and a backstory of the group being shipwreck hunters from Tahiti who's boat crashed on the island when they were looking for the slaving ship, The Black Rock.

* Sawyer also explains their presence in the jungle by saying they were looking for their missing crew members.

* Horace believes their story but plans to put them on the submarine the next morning back to Tahiti and their crew member at later point when they find them.

* Faraday is still in shock over Charlotte and keeps mumbling that he shouldn't tell her not to come back. Surprisingly he spots the little Charlotte in the Dharma barracks as the group is waiting for Sawyer to return from his chat with Horace. Faraday does nothing.

* Juliette tells Miles and Faraday that she used to live with the Others in the barracks after they killed the Dharma people off. She tells them about how they brought her to the island on the submarine long after they took over.

* After Sawyer returns to the group, a siren goes off and Richard Albert breaks through the barrack's defenses into the main area. The people all hide while Horace goes out to speak to Richard who tells him about his two dead men.

* Sawyer goes out to speak to Richard about what happened against Horace's wishes and tells him what happened with his men. He also tells Richard about the burying of Jughead, John Locke's appearance in their camp and the fact that Sawyer is not a Dharma member. Richard believes him but still needs justice for the death of his men to make his people happy, so they send the dead body of Amy's husband with Richard to keep the truce.

* This great act impresses Horace enough to gain Sawyer and the group 2 weeks more on the island to search for their missing crew members and though Juliette states that she wanted to go on the submarine right away, Sawyer talks her into staying the 2 weeks to wait for Locke to come back.

* Obviously this stay with the Dharma Initiative goes beyond 2 weeks because throughout the episode we are shown events 3 years from this point. The group has now been hired by the Dharma Initiative, Sawyer as head of security, Jin & Miles as Security officers and Juliette as a mechanic. (Daniel is not seen during this time though we have seen him working in the orchid station in past episodes.)

* During this time, Sawyer and Miles drag a drunk and explosive happy Horace home to his now wife, Amy, who goes into labor. Juliette successfully helps Amy deliver the baby without problems and it's a boy, though we never hear a name.

* Sawyer and Juliette are now together as a couple and we find out that Sawyer has convinced himself that he no longer loves Kate because she is gone forever.

* But just as that happy thought is put into play, Sawyer is awoke with a call from Jin who has successful located Jack, Kate and Hurley on the island and Sawyer runs out to meet them in the North Valley without telling Juliette.

* From the look on Sawyer's face during the reunion, he apparently is not over Kate by any means and all I can say is poor Jack and Juliette.

Notable Episode Points:

* In this episode, we got to see what looked like the Star Station? or the Security station (star Logos on the Dharma jumpsuits) which was full of monitors for the Dharma barracks.

* Plus we were introduced to a whole bunch of new Dharma people from the security personal, Jerry and Phil to Rosie and some doctor. God, so many people to keep track of at this point. Amy and Horace, we're met them before in previous episodes. They were the couple that brought Ben and his Dad to the island.

UPDATES:

* Richard is able to come into the barracks without a problem through the sonic fence and he even tells Horace that the fence will not keep his people out.

* Sawyer finally makes a comment about Richard's eyeliner, so does that mean that he actually wears the stuff? And if he does, could that mean that Richard is actually Egyptian and is old as the relics on the island?

* Sawyer's fake back story is taken partial from Rousseau's team and how they came to be on the island. They came from Tahiti and crashed their boat on the island.

Worst Gamer Product Ever

I've seen a lot of gamer tie in products but this has to be the dumbest products yet.

Gillette Razors has come out with a Gamer style razor blade promoted by the digital versions of Tiger Woods and Roger Federer. What does this have to do with gaming?

Nothing! Even the commercial is pretty badly done.

SNL Wario Shake it Sketch - A Little NSWF

Alec Baldwin appeared on Saturday Night Live for the hundredth time this past weekend and he pulled off a pretty funny sketch about the Nintendo Wii featuring Wario Shake it.

This is a little NSWF for work, so to be on the safe side watch it at home.

Olivia Munn Jumps into a Giant Chocolate Pie

Last week, Olivia Munn from Attack of the Show promised she would jump into a giant chocolate pie wearing a sexy french maid costume if 50,000 people signed a petition for her to do so and apparently the people wanted pie.

I usually wouldn't post stuff like this, but this actually looked like it was fun. I would totally do this.

Dr. House as Gordon Freeman?

I was checking out Phia's 1up blog when I came across a post about celebrity and videogame character look-a-likes. Though her comparisons were good, the best one came in the comments.

CSI: New York: Overview Trailer

Yes, I am a huge fan of CSI: Las Vegas and New York. Not Miami though ... can't stand Horatio Kane and his stupid one liners. AND THOSE SUNGLASSES - ALWAYS TAKING OFF THE SUNGLASSES IN THE MIDDLE OF A SUPPOSED COOL LINE. GAHHHH!

Anyway, the new CSI: New York game is slated to hit store shelves end of December and I actually want to play this game. The first CSI game for the PC wasn't that bad and this new one has the actually actors from the show providing the voice-overs and its story lines are written by CSI script writers.

Not sure about the lack of moving characters in the game footage so far though. The first game had 3D characters in their scenes and I think they moved for at least they showed movement during the crimes.

Here's a trailer for the original game on the PC. Check it out if you're interested. I can't embed it on the site unfortunately.
