Shopping on Threadless: Gamer Edition

I've been birthday shopping for my wee nephew who's going to be 1-years-old this month and I always like to get my nephew something fun and something practical - usually clothes and a toy. So noticed Threadless.com finally added Paypal payment to their site, so I decided to buy him a shirt I wanted to buy my first nephew Evan a long time ago.

Unfortunately the shirt wasn't available in his size ... boo.

So I went for the next best idea which was a cute little Donkey Kong shirt called "Arcade Expressionism" by Brock Davis. I have seen this shirt around the net before and thought is was awesome. My oldest nephew plays videogames and I think its time to start getting the younger one hooked.


But this wasn't the only cool t-shirt design I found. There was the "My Other Ride is Light Cycle" by Rolf Nelson which is a Tron tribute shirt or hoodie.


The "Haunted Hedge Maze" by Aled Lewis which is a Pac-Man tribute shirt.


Or finally my favorite, "A Simple Plan" by Neil Gregory which is a Space Invaders tribute.

Happy 30th Anniversary Pac-Man!

Today Pac-Man celebrated it's 30th anniversary and this was the front page of Google. It even has animations that moved the ghosts and Pac-Man around. Check it out before the day is over.

Pacman Ghosts Discuss TV Shows

Apparently I have way too many TV viewing habits in common with the Pacman ghosts. I don't watch 24 or Private Practice but I pretty much watch all of the other shows they talk about ... Dexter, Burn Notice, Lost, Big Bang Theory, etc.

Love Hurts: Matching Gamer Tattoos

Ah, young gamers in love. Is there nothing sweeter?

Well, Getherpes, a female gamer from the Live Journal Girl Gamers Community recently show her massive love for her gamer boyfriend by getting a matching tattoo with him ... on the inside of her bottom lip.

Both of them got matching Pac Man and Ms. Pac Man tattoos as seen above. Now, I'm all for signs of affection but isn't jewelery or matching t-shirts just as good without all the pain?

Epic 8 Bit Art - Pixelated Paint and Sticker Art

So in my spare time between making bead creations for my store and writing, I've starting branching out into new forms of art like painting and sticker art.

Using stickers and a couple of binders as backgrounds, I made two pieces featuring Pac Man and Space Invaders. The materials I grabbed at the dollar store for cheap and then I just figured out what sprites I could make from red, blue, green, yellow and white coloured pixels.

I plan to seal the stickers on with a clear glue that you use for puzzles and hopefully that will keep them from peeling off.

I've only made one pixel art painting so far and it a rough piece at that. Raccoon Mario from Super Mario Bros. 3 isn't the neatest painting in the world compared to other artist's pieces I've seen, but practice makes perfect right.

Of course, fused beads will always be my main material for crafts because nothing looks more perfect that fused bead sprites when they're complete but I like the idea of trying new things once and a while.

Retro Gaming Stickers: my secret stash

Small fact about my childhood: When I was in school, we had a different item to collect each year as a ongoing fad. Grade 5 it was marbles, Grade 6 it was stickers, Grade 7 it was pogs and in Grade s it was magic cards. I gave up on the fad collections once Magic: the Gathering cards started up, but I did fall into sticker, marble and pog fads.

Last night I was going through some old binders looking for a scrap book to use for my Pulse articles and I came across my old sticker books. Flipping through the pages I found a bunch of old videogame stickers for PacMan, Popeye and Mario Bros. I decided to scan them and post them for all my readers to see.

The top stickers actually came from Nintendo Power I think. I even found some old controller decals in my sticker book but they weren't that great, so I didn't scan them. Anyhoo, enjoy the retro goodies.

My Pac Man Frame

My newest Etsy piece - a Pac Man frame. I made it from a wooden frame and fused beads. The frame is 8 inches x 8 inches and the picture hole is 3.2 inches x 3.2 inches.

I'm selling them on my Etsy store for $10.00 plus $5 CAN or $7 US shipping. I only have two for sale right now but if they sell, I plan to make more.

Candy Pop Creations is selling a crocheted set of Pac Man characters for $75.00. The set includes Pac Man, Pinky, Inky, Clyde and a power pellet version of Blinky. All of the pieces are in 3D form and are roughly 4 inches tall.
