Lightsaber Duel at 2015 Fencing Senior World Championships

Two professional fencers performed a choreographed lightsaber duel at the 2015 Fencing Senior World Championships in Moscow and it was pretty cool. But it would have been a bit more impressive if the Maroon 5 music wasn't killing the mood. Someone needs to edit this video, and add some lightsaber noises and some badass music.

Teletoon Superfan Fridays: Star Wars: The Clone Wars Preview

Here at The Girl Gamer, we love things all geek ... videogames, crafts, movies and especially cartoons! So when the people at Teletoon, the most awesome Canadian cartoon station asked me to come down and check out the first two episodes of the new 3rd season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, I couldn't refuse.

So next Tuesday I am heading down to T.O to the Teletoon offices to mingle with the Superfan Friday Team and check out some sweet Star Wars action. Star Wars: The Clone Wars is part of the Superfan Friday lineup on Teletoon every Friday night from 7pm to 9pm. Other cartoons in the lineup include Batman: The Brave and the Bold, The Justice League and Wolverine and the X-Men.
The 3rd Season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars starts September 17.

I will have more about the 3rd season when I check out the show next week.

Spike TV Video Game Awards 2009

Spike TV is back with the Video Game Awards on December 12th, 2009 and you can vote now for your favorite games. Head over to the website to vote for all your favorite titles in the catergories like Game of the Year, Best Soundtrack, Best PC Game, Best Downloadable Content and more.

This year is packed full of amazing titles and I personally had a hard time picking my favs. Just take for example the 5 games up for game of the year:

1. Batman: Arkham Asylum
2. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
3. Assassin's Creed 2
4. Left4Dead 2
5. Call of Duty 2: Modern Warfare 2

How the hell do you choose one game from a list that full of great games? I choose Uncharted 2 but it was a close tie with Batman and Assassin's Creed 2.

Spike TV has also been showing off their award show exclusives this year via commercials which includes a mystery shooter game from 2K Games (shown above), Halo Reach, Tron: the Movie and a new Star Wars game.

LucasArts Launches Old School Games Via Steam

So LucasArts finally told us their big secret and I was part right. They did give us the release date for Secret of Monkey Island: SE which hit Xbox Live Arcade on July 15 for 800 MS Points and PC via Steam for $9.99. Yay!

But they also made the announcement that they are making available a bunch of other LucasArts games from the libray via Steam on July 8th, 2009.

* Armed and Dangerous
* Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis
* Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade: The Graphic Adventure
* LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventure
* LOOM
* Star Wars Battlefront II
* Star Wars Republic Commando
* Star Wars Starfighter
* The Dig
* Thrillville: Off the Rails

Apparently this only part one of the list of the games they plan to release and will be giving us more titles in the future. I am happy to hear more games will be release because honestly I never played any of these games and don't really care to now. I still want my Sam & Max: Hit the Road, Full Throttle, Day of the Tentacle and Maniac Mansion. Maybe even the sequels to Monkey Island would be nice too.

Star Wars Battlefront®: Renegade Squadron™ Now Available Exclusively for the PSP® System

Next Installment in Best-Selling Star Wars Battlefront Series Introduces Customization and Expands Multiplayer Options

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – October 9, 2007 – Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron, the next installment of the best-selling Star Wars Battlefront series of videogames, is now available at retail stores in the U.S., LucasArts announced today.

Developed exclusively for the PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system by U.K.-based Rebellion, Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron continues the immensely successful Battlefront series, which has sold more than 10 million copies worldwide since its introduction in 2004.

The only new Star Wars Battlefront experience of 2007, Renegade Squadron delivers a new way for players to experience their favorite Star Wars battles any way – and anywhere – they want. The game presents new battles and missions found through a never-before-told story, as well as an unprecedented wealth of personalization and customization options. And for the first time on the PSP system, Star Wars Battlefront players can team up or compete online with friends all over the world.

Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron is the previously untold story of a ragtag ensemble of battle-hardened rogues and scoundrels assembled by Han Solo. Gathered to execute some of the most secretive operations in the Rebel Alliance’s war against the Galactic Empire, the Renegade Squadron participates in battles spanning the galaxy. From the frozen base on Hoth to a dogfight in space through the remains of Alderaan, Solo directs the team on missions of sabotage, rescue and retrieval.

In Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron, robust customization options replace the class system seen in previous Star Wars Battlefront titles, allowing for millions of possible unique combatants. With weapons, equipment and abilities that players select themselves, no two allies will likely ever look or perform exactly the same.

The game also boasts expanded multiplayer options for the PSP system. Up to 16 players will be able to compete against each other over the Internet and eight via the PSP system’s ad-hoc wireless connection.

More information about Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron can be found at http://www.starwarsbattlefront.com.

Happy Towel Day and Star Wars Day!

March 25 is the truly the best day if you're a geek at heart. Today we celebrate the 30th Anniversey of Star Wars otherwise known as Universal Day of the Jedi and today is also Towel Day in celebrate of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

Being that I'm a huge geek, I had to show off my kickass towel from HHGG that I won from a 6.10 am radio contest. I have the book, movie and keychain too but can't seem to find the keychain and the movie is a copy, so here's a picture of the book and towel only.

I also have a bunch of Star Wars figures from the 70s which I got for my boyfriend. We have Leia, Chewbecca, Yoda, an Ewok, Stormtrooper, C3PO, Obi Won and Luke. Cool, huh? I especially like the wookie.

So Happy Towel Day and Universal Day of the Jedi! Don't forget to bring your lightsaber and towel out with you today.
