Epic 8 Bit Bead Art: Giant Final Fantasy & Chronotrigger Art

Next to Doctor Octoroc, this new artist is my hero. He's inspired me to redo my Final Fantasy VI project (which now has a home with a Destructoid community member) and make a giant scene like one of these.

Dunhour, a new member for the Pixelgasm forum, has been wowing the whole lot of us with their giant mural size Squaresoft videogame scenes. Taken from Final Fantasy VI, Final Fantasy IV and Chronotrigger, this giant scenes must have taken Dunhour days to complete.

To give you an idea on how big these pieces are, quite visible in the middle picture are the squares that the mural is made up of. Each square is roughly 5.5 inches x 5.5 inches, so count the number of squares in that mural on each side - 6 wide & 4 high and you find that the piece is 33 inches wide and 22 inches high.

If you really want to get technical, there are 841 beads per square and there are 24 squares in the mural total, so there are 20,184 beads in that piece overall. That's a lot of bloody beads! Imagine having to place each one by hand following a pattern and then having to iron the whole thing, all the while hoping to God that you don't mess the piece up. Now, that's dedication.

I hope to make something that big someday but I need to finish my orders up first.

[Editor's note: The top Final Fantasy VI piece was originally arranged by artist, PaperRockScisorz]
